At CAL Sports Academy, we value the role the parents of our young athletes play in their lives and the dedication they have to seeing their children succeed.

We pride ourselves on being a big family here at CAL Sports Academy, all the way from our coaches to our athletes to our biggest supporters, the parents.

Ms. Brown, mother of basketball player Danielle Brown, shares her experience with CAL Sports Academy.

The CAL Sports experience has allowed Danielle to transition from just enjoying a game of basketball to wanting to be committed in learning all she can to excel at the game.

It started with the recommendation of David Tinsley, Danielle’s high school basketball coach and a member of the CAL Sports coaching team, who recognized her potential and encouraged her to try out for the girls AAU team at CAL.

In gaining a place at CAL, I have seen Danielle use the opportunity to improve her game, while evolving into a player committed to continuing her development even during the AAU offseason.

With continued training opportunities provided by Coach Tinsley and her participation in basketball leagues offered at CAL, Danielle was able to enjoy the sport while becoming part of a team and developing relationships with others, on and off the court.

Being somewhat of an introvert, Danielle has been more comfortable at individual sports and while she enjoy the company of others, did not always allow that relationship to extend beyond the activity.

At CAL I have watched Danielle blossom into “being one of the girls” and loving it. CAL had the girls start an email chain and gave them the responsibility to provide updates to each other on the games as well as reaching out to see how each other is doing, to improve bonding among teammates. This to me has not just ensured contact, but has been the start of a relationship that could very well last a lifetime, something I believe may not have been initiated without direction from CAL.

The discipline and the high personal conduct displayed and expected from players, staff and parents alike, is something that CAL Sports demands and is good for the sports and all those who are involved with the academy.

The ease of access to coaching staff, information and update on players progress is admirable. Above all however, is CAL Sports ability to provide an atmosphere where diversity is not just encouraged, but everyone is treated equally and with utmost respect.
