Girls AAU Basketball
CAL Sports Academy is recruiting girls basketball players who want to take their game to the next level for our 2013 AAU Teams
All players must tryout to be part of Team CAL.
We had a great 2012 season and will continue to strive for success in 2013 while providing an exciting environment for skills development.
As part of CAL Sports Academy AAU Teams, you are provided with high level training and top quality gear for the tournament season. A high level of desire, sportsmanship and competitiveness is a requirement for CAL Sports Academy AAU Basketball Teams. Your effort translates into wins and a lot of fun. Tryout and become part of our successful organization.
Players must register online in advance to tryout for the CAL Sports Academy AAU Basketball Program.
TRYOUTS FEES:
Payment of $200 is required upon registering for AAU Basketball tryouts. There is no exception to this. Upon completion of the tryout period, $150 is either credited towards the AAU Program if the player makes the team, or refunded to the parent if the player did not make the team.
Contact Corey A. Lord in advance of the first tryout session if paying by cash or check. Online payments are preferred. Checks returned for insufficient funds are charged an additional $35 per returned check.
No refunds are provided for missed tryout sessions.

TEAM SELECTION:
Coaches evaluate each athlete on a five point scale (5 highest level of skill to 1 lowest level of skill) for ball handling skills passing skills, shooting skills, knowledge / rules of the game, defense, work ethic, hustle, scrimmages, and sportsmanship.
All players are notified of their selection or non-selection within 5 days of the conclusion of tryouts.
For athletes not selected to a team, Coach Corey places a phone call to the parent. The scorecard is reviewed with the parent along with recommendations to continue to build player skills.
Scorecards of all players can be reviewed with Coach Corey upon request. Each player will receive a copy of the scorecard.
TRYOUT SCHEDULE:
Participation in 4 ½ hours of tryouts is required in order to determine the players for each team. Tryouts consist of testing player’s work ethics, hustle, attitudes, skills, and scrimmages. Players should not be intimidated by better players or players who made the team in prior years. Hard work, hustle, and good attitude impress the coaches, even if shooting or game play is off during the tryouts.
Parents and family members may not attend tryouts. If a parent is found to be attending a tryout, he/she will jeopardize his/her player’s selection to a team.
